MamaFaMi's sembang mak nenek can be read at her http://mamafami.blogspot.com/2009/06/custard-roll.html(Spice N Splendour Blog). ...malas nak buat siaran ulangan... sebab mata dah ngantuk!

CUSTARD ROLL
Source and adapted from : Chef Khoo See Yew

Ingredients :

60g condensed milk
15g egg (about 1/2 an egg)
170g cold water (from the refrigerator)
2.5g salt
2.5g bread improver
5g instant yeast
300g high protein flour (I used multi purpose flour)
20g butter

Method : (I used my breadmaker to do this job! Cheating, but it works! Hahaha)

1. Pour the cold water into the bread maker pan.
2. Add in the flour followed by all the other ingredients except for butter.
3. Set to the BASIC DOUGH programme and let the BM does it's job.
4. After about 5 minutes or until the dough is well incorporated, add in the butter and let the BM continue kneading until a soft and smooth dough is formed. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
5. Divide the dough into 50g each. Make into small balls and let it rest for another 10 minutes.
6. Shape into long strip and arrange on the baking tray.
7. Prove till double in size.
8. Pipe the custard topping.
9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 25 to 30 minutes.

15g custard powder
15g sugar
250ml fresh milk

Method :

Thoroughly mix custard powder, sugar and 25ml milk, while 225ml milk is being brought to boil. Add boiling milk to mixture, stirring well. Return to low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens. Set aside.

Butter Cream Filling (I didn't do this)

*125g butter
*75g margarine
*50g shortening
125g icing sugar - sifted twice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method :

Beat ingredients marked * till smooth. Add in sifted icing sugar and vanilla. Whisk till light and fluffy.

<title><![CDATA[COLORFUL SANDWICH LOAF]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[I don't really know what's wrong with me lately. I just felt lazy and low spirited ... and I am actually tired and sick with myself for being hit with this SYNDROME. All I want to do, the whole day long...if only it's possible... is just to be infront of the laptop without having to worry about anything and everything.... and I expect the food to be on the table during the meal hours, clothes washed, hanged, folded and ironed, house in order and so on so forth......boleh eh gitu??... Snap out of it mama... do you think you're in heaven!!!!! You've got to do a lot more to book a place in there!

Ya Allah Ya Tuhanku, Kau ampunilah segala dosa-dosaku dan tempatkanlah aku di kalangan orang yang beriman agar aku dapat merasai nikmat syurga mu.... amin....

Actually I have stories to write but since time is not on my side and plus, I can't wait to share with all of you, my latest experiment (just this evening), I'll leave the mak nenek stories for later....maybe....

There is a story behind this experiment actually, but that will have to wait until I post the entry about that particular recipe ya. The recipe for this Sandwich Loaf came from one of my Bread Books. This time it's not Chef Alex Goh's book. Let's give Chef Alex a break... hahaha.... It's an excellent recipe. The bread tasted lovely and the texture is so soft and yummy. Thank you to Chef Khoo See Yew and sorry for modifying your recipe to give it a more colorful look. The original recipe is just for plain Sandwich Loaf but being MamaFaMi who loves colors, I just can't resist to put a pinch of colors in my bread... hahaa... funny thing is, I don't put colors on my face. Believe it or not, I don't use makeups. Not even lipstick. All that'll be on my face is just powder and I like baby talcums!

For the recipe, please click http://mamafami.blogspot.com/2009/06/colorful-sandwich-loaf.html(HERE)...Thank you.....

<title><![CDATA[MARBLE CHEESE CAKE (Umifeeza)]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[When I visited http://tertunailahhasratdihati.blogspot.com(Kak Ina KL's blog) quite sometime ago, I came across her Marble Cheese Cake recipe and can't stop thinking of it. In order to end my misery... and also, in order to not let my cheese go to waste as the expiry date was drawing near (psstt http://tiffinbiru.blogspot.com(Mat), kita serupa!!!)....I decided to try out the recipe... Thanks to Umifeeza for sharing it with all of us....

MARBLE CHEESE CAKE
Source : Umifeeza of http://myresipi.com(MyResipi)

Ingredients :

(A)
185g butter
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup castor sugar
1 cup self-raising flour
2 eggs

(B)
250g cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup fresh milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method :

1. Melt butter over low heat. Then add in cocoa powder. Leave to cool.
2. Add in sugar and stir. Add in eggs, one at a time. Finally add in flour and stir until well mixed.. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar till creamy. Add in the egg, vanilla essence and fresh milk.
4. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the cocoa mixture onto the middle of the prepared tin (line with greaseproof paper). Top it with 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture. Continue doing so, until all the mixture finishes.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 C for 45 minutes or until cake is done. Leave overnight before cutting.

And this is the cake that I made for Azlina. She said, next time round, I can just halve the amount of cheese used. Maybe it's too rich for her. Well, different people has different taste... Thanks Lin for trusting me with your order...

Warm regards,
