CHOCOLATE CRESCENT

 
 
Didn't wake up for sehri this morning, though my phone did it's job 'Cook-A-Doodle-Doo'-ing at 3 am. Yeah, I set that 'Cook-A-Doodle-Doo' sound for my alarm and I think it's the most appropriate sound to wake me up...though at times it's rather annoying I must say. Hahaha...Syahmi, whenever he hears my alarm, he'll just point his fingers like a gun shape and 'shoot' my 'chicken'! Especially during Ramadhan, when we were having our sehri! It's kinda funny to see him do that!

I actually have doubts whether to carry on fasting today or to postpone it to tomorrow. But alhamdulillah I made the right choice to go ahead fasting and masyaAllah, the weather today is so cool and nice. Unlike yesterday, it was so hot, that I felt myself really dried up. Today the temperature is around 19 C to 29 C, where else for the past 2 weeks, it was always above 30 C.

Cooked a simple lunch, nothing fancy, for hubby and the kids. And in the evening, I tried something new. It's been a while since I last experimented something, so today I did. But will save that for tomorrow's entry, insyaAllah...


For today's recipe, I'll paste the last cookie recipe that I made for this year's Eid ~ the Chocolate Crescent. I got this recipe from my friend Naseem. Actually it's called Chocolate Squares. But since I made it into a Crescent shape, how on earth can it be called Squares! Hahaha....So when I asked Naseem, she said, just call it Chocolate Crescent...and I think it's a pretty name as well eh? But the most important thing is, the taste is lovely! For those who care to try, Naseem has given me the permission to paste the recipe here. Thanks Naseem for the lovely recipe....



CHOCOLATE CRESCENT

Ingredients :

250 g butter (I used margarine)
3/4 cup castor sugar
1 egg yolk
2 cups desiccated coconut
4 tablespoons cocoa powder ~ sifted
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Flour as needed
White cooking chocolate ~ decoration

Method :

1. Cream butter and sugar until light and creamy.
2. Add egg yolk and continue beating.
3. Add in desiccated coconut, cocoa powder, baking powder and mix.
4. Add flour as required to make soft dough.
5. Dust rolling board with a little flour and roll out dough to 6 mm thickness.
6. Cut using a crescent cutter.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 160 C for 20 minutes.
8. Leave to cool and decorate as desired.
