FRESH CREAM BISCUIT

 
 
 
Went to the clinic in the morning, had my finger pricked to do the Malaria test and to see the White Blood Cell Count (WBC). Alhamdulillah no Malaria detected and my WBC is just 9800 which is ok. Mustn't go beyond 10,000 if I am not mistaken. Correct me if I am wrong ya....

And hubby gave a strict order, to get enough rest and no messing around in the kitchen! Whenever he said that, I dare not go beyond his orders or I'll get into trouble! It's always been like that with me, either coincidence or just my psychology...whenever I cross the line, something bad will happen! So enough rest I did. And I think hubby's medicine (had to take his medicine during Sehri before I go to the clinic in the morning) helped. It just made me weak and sleepy. So, for Iftar, we just bought Nando's TakeAway.

For today's recipe, I'll post this biscuits I made the same day I made the Croissants and Mama Carries biscuit. I got this recipe from my dear friend, Naseem but played around a bit with the recipe while at Dolly's a few months back. Thanks Naseem for the nice recipe and thanks to Dolly for lending me the cutter. Will return the cutter soon, insyaAllah though I actually don't wish to return it back to you....hahaha.....



FRESH CREAM BISCUIT

Ingredients :

2 cups flour
4 oz butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Fresh cream
Egg white
Colored sugar ~ to sprinkle

Method :

1. Sift flour, baking powerder, salt and cream of tartar into a bowl.
2. Add sugar and rub in butter to form breadcrumbs.
3. Pour in enough fresh cream to make into soft dough.
4. Roll to 1/2 cm thick and cut using the cookie cutter.
5. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with colored sugar.
6. Arrange in a tray and bake at 180 C for 10 minutes.
7. Then lower the temperature to 150 C for another 5 minutes or so to make it crispy.

Note :
The adjustment I made to this recipe is the cream of tartar which I think made the cookie a bit flaky
