HOW I DID MY SO CALLED BLACK FOREST CAKE

It's been quite a while since I last ice a cake. It's because, the kids prefer to bring donuts for their cake sales. This Friday is Syahmi's assembly and when asked, what must mama make for your cake sale, the answer is DONUTS PLEASE...and extra! Well in a way, it's much much easier compared to icing a cake, by me that is, because I am so lousy at icing cakes...just no patience and no talent.



But this morning, I iced a cake for Syahmi and also because Mas had asked if I know how to do a Black Forrest Cake. Well Mas, this won't be a REAL Black Forest Cake as I substitute lots of stuff according to what's available at home. So, here's how I made my so-called Black Forest Cake...hahaha.....



Note :

1. For the cake, I used the Chocolate Cake recipe in this page. Made into 2 round 9 inch cakes. Place one cake on a plate, preferably upside down to get a smooth surface.
2. Drizzle the syrup onto the cake. A real Black Forest cake uses Dark Cherry with Syrup. But I substitute mine with Peaches in syrup.
3. Spread the fresh cream onto the surface.
4. Arrange the fruits.
5. Top with another piece of cake.
6. Spread more fresh cream...
7. ...to cover the whole cake.
8. I used grated chocolate to decorate the side of the cake. I think a True Black Forest Cake uses chocolate rice? Uhmm..dunno!
9. Make a rossette on top and place cherries.
10. Wallah...done! Easy?

18. nabialishad>> Topping tu ada macam moon surface sket sebab mama tergatal pi tambah cream dan pukul semula. Maybe itu kesilapannya...tapi selet gak lah...Mama bake kek ni dalam 2 tray bulat 9 inci dan tebal 1 inci. Trays tu mama tempah. Kalau nak guna satu loyang pun boleh, tapi nanti, kena potong sendirilah kat tengah tengah tu. Mama malas...buat 2 tray lagi senang dan cepat sikit masak sebab dia nipis je. Yes, satu adunan isikan dalam 2 trays. Untuk icing tu, mama tuangkan fresh cream dalam mangkuk mixer, tuangkan 1 sudu kecil esen vanilla dan pukul je hingga gebu. Tapi tu pun mama rasa, fresh cream nya could be better. Mama ada phobia sket dengan fresh cream ni. Buat ni pun, main gagahkan diri je....
