Before hubby left for office yesterday, I've asked him what shall we have for breaking fast and he opt for noodles. I thought of making the fresh noodles in the morning, but things did go as planned, just because I can't control myself...hehehe...was infront of the pc for quite sometime! Naughty naughty naughty! Anyway, it's been quite a while since I last sat infront of the pc for a long period. So yesterday was a break actually...Ended up preparing the dough almost noon. Left it to rest and went up and down sending and picking up my kids and even pop in at Naseem's to collect her gift...Yeah...mama is so lucky, murah rezeki this Ramadhan...These was what Naseem gave...

Reached home, straight to the kitchen and started doing the noodles. Syahmi felt asleep soundly on the couch. He had hockey practise in the hot sun, but he manage to keep his fast. I am very happy. By the time I finish rolling and shredding and boiling and stirring and straining..it was time to go and pick Fatin. Syahmi had said, he'll go but then I just don't have the heart to wake him up. So I locked the house and left. Came back to find him still sleeping. Off to the kitchen again and start preparing the dishes. The kids just wanted the fresh noodles to be eaten with polony and sausages. My kids, especially Fatin, they just loved plain noodles...not to be fried, not soya sauce..nothing...just plain noodles with salt...easy huh! As for hubby and me, I made Mee Bandung...Just followed whatever I felt like when preparing it...hehehe...

And as for today's recipe, I'll paste the Roti Jala recipe that I got from one of my cook book.



ROTI JALA

Ingredients :

200 g flour ~ sifted
2 eggs
1/2 cup coconut milk or fresh milk
60 g margarine ~ melted
a pinch of salt
yellow coloring

Method :

1. Place flour, eggs, coconut milk/fresh milk in a blender. Switch it on till well blended.
2. Pour in the melted margarine, salt and coloring. Switch it on to blend the mixture.
3. Pour through a sieve and let the batter rest for at least 1/2 hour.
4. Heat a flat pan, preferably non-stick pan. Grease lightly with a piece of kitchen paper dipped in oil.
5. Pour the mixture into the mould and make a lace pattern on the pan.
6. Leave for a few minutes till done.
7. Continue until all the batter is used up.
8. Serve with chicken/beef/mutton curry.

Note :

1. Some other names for this particular recipe are roti renjis, roti kirai, lace pancake.
2. I didn't use the roti jala mould, but I used the icing writing nozzle instead.

12. Mom of four>> Selamat berpuasa juga diucapkan kepada mom sekeluarga. 'Double boiler technique' ni ialah untuk mencairkan cooking chocolate. Caranya...In small pot, masukkan sedikit air. Let it boil. Ambil another pot, kuali or bowl tahan panas dan letakkan cooking chocolate dalamnya. Then place that bowl of cooking chocolate on top of the pot with the boiling water. Remove from heat and just leave it that way for the chocolate to melt. Hope this piece of information helps ya...
13. mas>> Mas dear, the recipe is here. Just change the chicken to beef. Tapi kalau masak beef curry, kalau beef tu jenis tak empuk, it's better for you to boil it first. Mama guna fillet steak, so it's very tender. Mama just ketuk sikit-sikit guna steak hammer. And I don't boil it...lebih manis. Alhamdulillah I've updated all my links on the recipes...so that it'll be easier for all of you to check on the recipes.

p/s : Eee murahnya....Hari tu kan, mama suruh adik poskan maggi sebab stok dah lama habis, kesian budak-budak nak makan. 6 bungkus maggi dan kotak, about 3.3 kg, via kapal, sampai sebulan tu, kami kena bayar RM220! Mahal ooo maggi yang kami makan sekarang ni...sebungkus RM7.00 plus jadinya!!!!!

In a way, it's good because it'll make you a better cook! Hahaha... But then, is it easy to find the ingredients for our Malaysian food over there? Over here, not all are available, so at times, I have to adjust the recipes according to what is available...janji dapat makan sudahlah...hehehe...
