This is my 200th entry in this fotopage. It never occured in my mind that I'll reach this page without running out of recipes to paste. In fact, I still have a number of recipes in queue, waiting to be posted. If not because of Kak Liza, all these will never be possible. I thank you Kak Liza from the very bottom of my heart for all the moral support, encouragement and for always being there when I need you...What will I do without you my dear sister....thank you..thank you very much.....

Before Kak Liza introduced me to Forum Cari and Fotopages, my menu for the day is very limited. With that limited choice, I cook over and over again. But alhamdulillah, my hubby and my children never make a big fuss out of it. For that, I'm blessed!

For this entry, I'd like to share with you the excitement I felt last Monday. I've acheived something that I never thought I'd be able to do and what's more, it not so difficult to do at all! I made my own TOFU! Well, to some, maybe it's not a big deal, but to me it is! Thanks Norfiza for everything! Nor had sent me the recipe and the ingredients together with the mould, when she was still in Zimbabwe. But at first glance, I thought it's a lot of job to do. So I just kept it nicely in the pantry. Then when I came across Muni's page where she had tried making her own Tofu, I just had to try it myself! Hassle or no hassle, I'm going for it! To my surprise, it's not a hassle at all! Why did I wait this long to try. Even Nor is no longer in Zimbabwe. She's in Jeddah now! So here's Nor's simple recipe, how to make your own Tofu at home....

HOMEMADE TOFU

Ingredients :

500 g soya beans
4 litre water
1 tablespoon Epsom Salt dissolved in 1 cup water

Ice cream container, cut the bottom (as per photo)
Sieve
Muslin cloth

Method :
1. Soak the soya beans overnight.
2. Wash the soya beans and divide to 4 portions.
3. Blend each portion with 1 litre of water.
4. Pour the blended mixture through a sieve.
5. Boil the soya juice in a big pot. Keep stirring to prevent it from spilling out of the pot.
6. When boiling, pour in the Epsom Salt mixture. At this stage, the milk will start to curdle immediately.
7. Remove from heat and leave for an extra 5 minutes.
8. Place the icecream mould, covered with the muslin cloth by the sink so that the water will flow out easily.
9. Pour curdled mixture on to the muslin cloth.
10. Cover the mixture with muslin and place something heavy on top to set.
11. Once harden, cut the tofu to the shape you wanted and store in a container filled with water in the fridge till needed.

Today, for lunch, I cooked for hubby and the kids, chicken curry and Tahu Sumbat. Recipe, courtesy of Kak Liza. Thanks Kak Liza!

Our dinner....

Ceritamu, ceritaku...
Quote:
1. EDORAS>>Jom jommm.....
2. rossya>Epsom Salt ni sejenis garamlah kak. Kita pun tak tahu mana nak beli sebab kita punya ni pun Nor yang bagi. Dia beli kat Zimbabwe.Buat tahu ni memang mudah je rupanya...lom cuba lom tahu....
3. muni>>Betul tu Muni. Mama tengok, yang Muni punya jadi 'susah' tu sebab air soya tu berlambak keluar dari periuk cute awak tu! Proses pembersihan tu yang buat kita rasa banyak kerja kot? Mama guna periuk gedabak sebab takut berlambak...hehehe...I learn from your mistake! Thanks to you, jadi wira penyelamat.
2. Buat air kacang soya senang je, rendam kacang soya semalaman, blend dengan air, tapis, masak atas api dan masukkan sehelai dua daun pandan. When boiling, masukkan gula secukup rasa. Siap. Tapi tu la, mama ingat nak experiment dulu, nak tahu exact amount for each ingredients. Kalau dah buat, insyaAllah mama tepek ye....
...Amacam cikgu...lulus tak?
5. FadzliAli>>Wah, diet ke? Mama diet gak, dalam tidur!
6. mummy Hamim2>>Mummy ni, itu baru birthday bash Dhodi yang umur setahun dah tak leh tidur...esok-esok kalau nak buat kenduri terima menantu, entah macam mana gaya ler mummy ni! Kalau for the kids, mummy buatlah chocolate mini muffin, popcorns, sosej rolls, piza pinwheels, cookies, Donuts dan jelly. Hehehe, cakap lelebih kang, orang kata nak promote masakan sendiri pulak! Good luck na...tak sabar nak tengok entry mummy pasal birthday bash tu nanti!
7. hellikonia>>Mama minta maaflah sebab mama pun tak tahu sangat pasal Epsom Salt ni. Sebabnya, segala ingredients, Nor yang beri mama and she got it from Zimbabwe. Di Malaysia, mama tak tahu pulak kat mana nak beli. p/s :Email dah dapat, thanks.
8. ~ j.e.j.a.k.a ~ FM4555 ~>>
9. hellikonia>>Kak Liza kata, dia pernah dengar, orang kata hampas soya tu boleh dibuat begedil. Kena cari resipi ni sebab memang sayang nak buang sebenarnya.
10. Kakyong>>Suksess Kak yong...suksesss....
11. mommy_d&d>>Epsom salt mama tak sure dapat kat mana. Cuba tanya kat kedai sengseh (kedai ubat Cina) kot? Yes, ice cream mould tu, kerat bahagian bawahnya aja. Tapi tahu yang dihasilkan, hanyalah setebal 1 inci je, the size of the icecream container la.
12. nic>>Buat roti sosej tu, kalau uli dengan tangan, mesti lama sikit around 20 minutes. Tapi kalau dengan mixer, mama selalu uli 10 minutes je. Bila dah bulatkan, let the dough rest for about 10 minutes, then shapekan jadi tali dan lilit pada sosej. Perap sampai naik double the size. Bakar jangan lama sangat, sampai dah golden brown on top, terus keluarkan dari oven and straight away sapu majerin on top. Biar sejuk sikit dalam 10 minutes or so, then simpan dalam container. Buat half adunan dulu tau...jangan serik, cuba sampai berjaya ok!
13. kuchai>>Tq for the wish. Tu la, sampai 200 dah diam tak diam...banyak juga celoteh mama eh! Hehehe...eh banyak lagi yang mama tak reti buatlah Kuchai, tapi akan ku usahakan sampai daku pandai segalanya...achewa! Ppsstt....mama masih kantoi buat tempe...saper nak tolong ajar mama ni????
14. nabialishad>>Hai makin teballah buku azimatmu itewwwww....
15. Kuzi>>Tu la kan Kuzi...baru berjaya buat tahu dah excited semacam kan? Hehehe....
16. nabialishad>>Sib baik tak kantoi! Hahahaha....
17. Mr.NAsH>>Terharunya, husband and wife rajin bertandang ke fp mama ye. Tu la, lenkali usik lagi, kan dah kena masak...hehehe...Glad that my fp is of some help to your wife and hopefully to others as well...
18. Kak Kham>>Bukan rajin kak, curious!
20. hanieliza>>Kita pun, kalau tofu ni murah, kita beli je. Tapi kat sini, saiz 3"x3"(lebih kurang), harga dia sampai RM20++.
21. nn>>Nak makan, kenalah buat sendiri nn...kalau kat Malaysia, rasanya tak buat kot....hehehe....
22 & 23. Auntie Sab & Sabrina>>Tofu ni tahu ler Sab...yang buat tahu sumbat tu...Kalau makan dengan kuah kacang, biasanya tahu bakar kan?
24. :: Mimie~Arissa's mummy::>>Sama-sama Mimie. Tu la, kalau buat sendiri, kita tahu what we are eating. Dah buat nanti, war warkan lah ye....gud luck!
26. Harlina>>Harlina nak balik for good dah ye? Kami ni juga yang masih tertangguh tangguh! I just realized yang mama belum pernah letak resipi roti canai yang mama buat semalam tu. Next time mama buat, insyaAllah kalau ingat, mama ambil gambar step by step ye...
27. aza>>Mama pun tak tahu sangatlah Aza, sorry ye. Tapi kan, kalau browse kat dalam Forum Cari tu, diorang selalu order online...
28. badang perkasa>>Ini dia ayah prihatin! My daughter...ikut angin dia....
29. ibuAliffNuqman>>Tu la, diam tak diam dah 200 entry! Unsangkarable!
30. Tina>>Tag mama tu, mama create guna paint sebab itu je yang mama reti...Mama pun buat roti canai mamak tu sekali je. Kalau buat roti canai ni, mama selalu stick to my original resipi from Kak Hasnah. InsyaAllah nanti mama tepek ye....It will take time though sebab baru je semalam buat roti tu..so ada 14 keping dalam freezer.
31. ~F&Z~>>You're most welcome sis. Kita pun ada habit yang sama. Kalau dah tak tahu apa nak masak, mulalah kita merayau sana sini cari ilham...hehehe..
32. Maryam>>Thank you for your kind words. Eh tak de le sampai a million. A thousand pun tak sampai. But at least, my main reason for registering with fotopage dah tercapai jugalah. My intention is to share whatever I've tried in my kitchen with others....I have yet to try other recipes using tofu...
33. Dolly>> Welcome back! Must be having such a lovely time at the lake huh! Hope you had a good one week holiday
