Last weekend, was a lazy weekend for me. Bad mama !!! On Saturday morning, went to wake the kids up and while they were stretching themselves to wake up, mama just nicely snuggled next to Syahmi and fell asleep for a good two hours! Imagine! The bad thing about mama oversleeping is she tends to get lazy! This time...VERY LAZY!!! I didn't try anything new last Saturday. Then come Sunday, i.e today. Was lazy all morning till afternoon. Then, I said to myself, this is just too much! I need to snap out of this laziness. I fought and I fought (hahaha...poyo nyerr!) and I won! Straight to the kitchen and I did an experiment....and WOW...am I proud of myself or what!!!!! I never thought I'd be able to do this particular thing at home, but I did it ! Want to know what I did....well, stay tuned....as I will only reveal it in my future entries...hahaha....sorry !!!!!

Actually after that project, I wanted to do some spiral currypuffs and planned to cook chicken curry for dinner. But then, hubby came back from golfing and said, let's go to Nandos. But I told him, I wanted to cook chicken curry for dinner. He said, why must you cook on weekends, we'll buy takeaways.... OOooooo I just love my hubby ! Hahahaha! Thought of asking him to go with Syahmi so that I can start with my spiral currypuffs but he refused and wanted me to come along. So I went and by the time we reached home, my laziness is back....Maybe I'll do the currypuffs tomorrow, insyaAllah....

So for today's recipe, I'll just paste this Malaysian kuih I made a long time ago...It's very simple but tasty. I got the recipe from one of my cookery book. In this book, it is called Kuih Rengas, but to some, they may know this kuih by the name of Kuih Kasturi.



KUIH RENGAS/KUIH KASTURI

For the filling :

100 g green beans
Sugar to taste
50 g freshly grated coconut
1 screwpine leaf (daun pandan)
enough water for boiling

Method :
1. Boil the green beans till soft.
2. Add the other ingredients and cook till slightly dry.
3. Take a bit of the mixture and make it into a ball, then flatten it.
4. Leave aside.

For the bater :
1 cup rice flour
1 - 2 eggs
a pinch salt
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon tumeric powder

Method :
1. Mix well the above ingredients. Make sure there's no crumbles.
2. Heat enough oil in a frying pan.
3. Dip the filling, into the bater and fry till golden brown.

I didn't know that there are many other names to this kuih till my friends informed me in the comments. Thank you all for sharing this piece of information with me....
