CHOCOLATE BUNS
Remember last Monday I wrote, I was feeling lazy until Kak Liza showed me her Chocolate Bun photo that she had just made and just out of the oven. Well actually, that photo managed to 'chase' my laziness away! Soon as I got her recipe via ym, got it printed and straight to the kitchen. My curiosity is killing me! Just had to try it myself and what's more, I love to bake anything that has to do with yeast. So here's the recipe if you wish to try, but I just improvised a bit by putting a chunk of cooking chocolate in the dough as filling...And oh...sorry, where's my manners.....Thank you very much Kak Liza for the lovely recipe. Enjoyed by my family and I (as usual...hihihii). And I made a chocolate cake as well from this recipe.


CHOCOLATE BUN

Ingredients :
Ingredients A :

500 g bread flour
(I used cake flour because I ran out of bread flour)
30 g milk powder
20 g cocoa powder
100 g sugar
11 g instant yeast
1 whole egg

Ingredients B :
250 ml water
80 g margarine

Method :

1. Mix well ingredients A.
2. Add in water and knead till a soft dough is formed.
(I called upon my antique but still reliable mixer to help me with this process!)
3. Add in margarine and knead again till soft and elastic.
4. Divide the dough into 50g balls.
5. Shape the dough to your liking.

6. Leave to prove till double the size.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree celcius till golden brown.
8. Once out of the oven, brush some margarine on top.

Ok, mama buat macam ni...Masukkan semua bahan kering dalam mixer (sebab mama memang 'out' kalau uli tangan sebab malas!), on the mixer dan tuangkan air sikit demi sikit. Agak-agak almost sebati tepung tu, masukkan margarine. Continue uli. Kalau belum lembut, tuangkan air lagi dan uli hingga mendapat texture yang lembut, licin dan elastik. Pas tu, bulat-bulatkan dalam 50g each. Susun dalam tray yang telah ditaburkan sedikit tepung. Dah siap semua, bungkuskan tray berisi doh tu dalam beg plastik besar dan biarkan naik till double the size. Panaskan oven dan masukkan roti yang telah naik. Keep on checking, normally about 15 - 20 minutes dah ready. Once out of the oven, sapukan margarine on top. Siap...and roti mama tu, sampai 2, 3 hari stays lembut, alhamdulillah. Amaun air yang digunakan may vary, ikut tepung ye...so kena tuang sikit-sikit sampai dapat tekstur yang elok. Sometimes more water are needed and sometimes less. With practise, insyaAllah kita akan mahir. Mama pun only recently buat roti menjadi sikit...dolu-dolu, keras juga... Yang penting, jangan lekas putus asa....

Mama pun, kalau balik Malaysia, bukan masak pun...pi beli kat kedai...especially roti ni..gardenia lagi sedap! Hihihi....Btw, malam semalam mama masak lagi udang masak lemak versi Kuchai tu...still tak nampak lawa la. Mama ni bila nak pandai masak lemak eh? But nevertheless, rasanya tetaplah superb! Cuma ropa je tak cantik....
