Jalawe Peak @ Nyika Plateau, Malawi
My story continues...
The second day we were on top of Nyika Plateau, we took a guide to show us around because we don't want to miss anything. This might be the one and only time we'll be at Nyika. It's just too far to go here more often. Our guide's name is Mr White. It was a 6 hours tour, not just the driving but stopping to snap photos and to enjoy the beautiful awesome view! In this entry, I'll put in the photos at Jalawe Peak, the second highest peak on top of Nyika Plateau after Nganda Peak.

Nyika Plateau
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nyika Plateau lies in northern Malawi and north eastern Zambia. It is protected by Malawi's Nyika National Park and Zambia's Nyika Plateau National Park. It lies at an average of 2000m above sea level, rising to 2605m at Nganda Peak. It is known for its wildlife, including Buchell's zebra, many birds and endemic butterflies, chameleons, frogs and toads, and also for its orchids. The main settlement on the plateau is Chilinda.

When we reached Jalawe (about 2400m above sea level) Mr White said that we'll have to get to the top of Jalawe peak on foot. Wah...mama was so confident...ok ok no problem...come lets do it! And clever mama, just wore slippers instead of trainers! But luckily I was prepared with the thick clothes. It's the breeze that makes it very chilly up there. Upon reaching the place where we had to climb the peak, the kids, the daddy and the guide were just climbing nicely but mama started to decrease her speed. Oh my God...will I make it to the top??? Pity them, had to stop a couple of times to allow this old lady to catch her breath! We continued....and I huff and I puff and I pant....and I pancit...BUT....I MADE IT TO THE TOP! See...mama got a strong will power! When we reached to the top, I felt like my heart was going to burst out, because of overworked...At that moment, I thought to myself, I must loose some kgs...hahaha...But then, when we were infront of the food, I forgot everything...!!! Some good will power huh!

Anyway, I didn't follow them to climb the top peak. To do so, we have to climb a wooden ladder that they've nailed to the stones. I just dare not, fear the ladder will break...hahahaha...excuses excuses excuses! There's nothing much extraordinary up there to see actually. Fatin said, there's some leapord's 'bed' and nice views...So I think, I didn't miss much! But then, just to be where I were, was such an awesome experience. When I looked around (despite me being afraid of heights!), I felt like I am on top of the world!!! Freedom...ooohhhh....I just don't know how to describe it with words!!!

The walk back to the car was less tiring. The kids and the dad were far ahead of me. Mr White had been so sweet as to wait for me because I stopped at so many spots to snap photos, either of the scenery or the flowers. And he will provide me with the names and informations. And oh, we walked 2 kms to and fro! Good excercise huh?!

Hope you'll enjoy the photos as much as I did photographing them......take care and have a nice and safe weekend....
