KUIH KERIA

Kuih Keria
Last Friday, I finally got through my phobia of making this particular Malaysian kuih ~ Kuih Keria. I am so happy and so proud of myself, now that I can declare (to myself that is), I know how to make Kuih Keria ! The first time I made this was when we were in Sri Lanka. And clever me, dipped the finger into the hot sugar...oh gosh...how it hurts and actually damaged my nail. Stayed like that for a few years. Only got the cream for the damaged nail when I visited the chinese herbal shop (seng seh). Alhamdulillah now my nail are fine. I got the recipe for this kuih from a book my mom gave me.

And there is a story about this book as well...hehehe...mama is always full of grandmother stories huh ! When I first stayed abroad, Sri Lanka to be precise...I know nothing about baking. It's because, why do I have to worry making when I can easily get it anywhere in Malaysia. In other words, I am LAZY! But being abroad, and if you are craving for your Malaysian delights, you've got no choice but to make it yourself. So then, come this one fine day, when my friend Rosie who was pregnant with her second child that time, asking me to make for her Kuih Koci. And of all the friends around, she wanted ME to do it...in other words...I am the chosen one...oh ho ho ho...WHY MEEEE !!!! I told her I don't know how to make Malay kuihs...But she insisted. There's a belief that if a pregnant woman is craving for something and if she didn't get to eat it, then the baby will be drooling a lot once out of the tummy. Oh ohhhh and I don't want to be the cause for that! So I took out this book of mine which I've been keeping for quite sometime and start making my first ever kuih koci! And wallahhhhhhh....it was lovely. My book to my rescue.....Thank you my darling book!!!!!

3. Fry till golden brown. Take out and put on the kitchen towel.
4. To coat, mix water and sugar. Put in a pan on medium heat and let it reach a sticky consistency.
5. Add in the fried rings and stir to coat evenly.

yangmazni>>Maz, mama guna keledek (sweet potato)
wmdhafidz@abgbotak>>Hmm...boleh tahan gak 'ragging' juniors sampai kebulur gara-gara kuih keria ye!
KNizam>>Eh, ye ke nipis? Ntahlah...tapi mama ni, kalau buat kuih memang suka yang comel-comel...tak padan langsung dengan tukang buatnya yang memang dah sedia 'COMEL' ni....hihihi....
aZeeMaH>> Kelakarlah kamu ni aZeeMaH especially bab teriak tu...hihihi....
kc>> Mama ni, lebih suka buat tapi tak berapalah sangat nak makan....
rian raihan_mu7@yahoo.com & noel o dizon lordaragon187@yahoo.com>> Thanks for visiting!
mama anis>>
~~Kuku mama tu lambat (bertahun jugalah) elok sebab lepas kena tu, mama tak de le pulak cari ubatnya. Mama biarkan je gitu..tapi ye la, bila nak bersalaman tu, malu jugalah, kuku kita kerepot .
~~I don't think icing sugar is the best option sebab icing sugar ni cepat melt. Even dengan donut pun kurang sesuai kalau coat dengan icing sugar. Tak susah coat dengan sugar syrup tu, cuma janganlah buat apa yang mama dah buat...gi celup jari tu saper suruh!!!!
afee>>Try afee, senang je nak buat, tricky part pada gula tu je...
kuchai>>Buku yang lunyai tu la yang paling berharga tau!
mcnods mcnods@yahoo.com>>Lapar la pulak ye...shiannya...
baby nadia>> Tak pe, we learn from our mistakes kan...nobody's perfect...hehehe...
Shanny Tan Bee Suan shannytan@gmail.com>>
syu>> Aik, macam mana boleh tak jadi tayar eh? Lenkali, Syu buatkan lubang tu jadi besar lagi ok. Kalau still tak boleh, tambahkan sikit tepung dalam doh tu...Tapi kalau pure mashed keledek je lagi best!shushu>> Betullah cakap mak shushu tu sebab kalau keledek berwarna oren tu, dia agak lembut. Terima kasih sudi berkongsi maklumat ye shushu.
Ija>>
nad>> Terima kasih Nad kerana sudi mencuba resepi yang mama tepek ni. Mama pun tumpang gembira gak sebab Nad berjaya buat dan hubby Nad pun suka..alhamdulillah....
