NASI JAGUNG

Today's experiment, Sweet Corn Rice (Nasi Jagung). Was surfing Kak Liza's fotopages this morning and can't resist the look of her Nasi Jagung. Since it's quite simple to make, so I've decided to give it a go....


NASI JAGUNG (SWEET CORN RICE)

6 cups basmathi rice ~ washed and drained
2 cups corn kernel
1 cup evaporated milk
8 cups water
2 tablespoons kurma powder
2 fresh tomatoes ~ blended
3 tablespoons ghee
1 bunch masala (corriander leaves)
pandan leaves ~ tie into a knot
salt and sugar to taste

Ingredients B
5 shallots ~ sliced thinly
3 garlics ~ sliced thinly
2 cm fresh ginger ~ sliced thinly
2 cm cinnamon stick (kulit kayu manis)
2 star anise (bunga lawang)
5 cloves (cengkih)
3 cardamons (buah pelaga)

Method :
1. Heat the ghee in the rice cooker pot. Add in ingredients B and pandan leaves. Saute till fragrant.
2. Add in the kurma powder. Stir well.
3. Add in water, salt, sugar, blended tomato and evaporated milk. Stir well and leave to boil.
4. When boiling, put in the rice, corn kernel and masala leaves. Mix well.
5. Remove from heat and put the pot onto the rice cooker. On the cooker and leave to cook.

Note :
1. I used fresh milk instead of evaporated milk
2. I didn't blend the tomatoes but just diced it...why? Because I am lazy!
3. Didn't put any masala leaves because there's none at home.
4. I cook the rice on the stove and not using the rice cooker.

~~Rasanya boleh kot kalau nak guna semua bread flour sebab amount cake flour yang digunakan pun just 50g je.
~~Boleh kot, like I told aureanayz tadi, kalau guna fresh milk, kena play around dengan amount airlah. Tapi kalau nak boh susu Fahim pun, boleh gak kot. Maaflah, mama ni tak pandai sangat dan tak berapa confident nak bagi jawapan sebab tak sure....
~~Whatever it is, kalau kita tak sure dan kalau tak nak membazir, just try making half the recipe sebagai experiment okay. All the best and let me know ye....
