My hand grater!
Had not been able to go online since Friday as the internet line wasn't working. Then on Saturday, I had visitors from Lilongwei, spending the weekend with me and the kids as hubby went outstation. Enjoyed their company. And today, after they left, I thought of writing something here. But it took me quite a while to think of what to write. The mind is quite blank at the moment, plus with the bad toothache and feeling feverish at the same time. Anyway, here goes nothing....
I made Apam Salju yesterday. This is my second trial. The first trial came out nice but my mistake was, I've steamed it in papercups. The apam seems to stick too much to the papercups. This time, I just steamed it in the plastic cups without any papercups and it came out nicely. Then to give extra 'ummph' to the apam, I grated the coconut to go along with the apam. First time for me to use the hand grater after purchasing it about 10 years back! All these while, I had my nanny and my houseboy to do it for me. Well, alhamdulillah I find no problem doing it myself...all I need is enough guts! So here's the Apam Salju recipe from Kak Liza. Thank you Kak Liza dear....
2 mugs cooked rice
2 mugs flour
2 mugs rice flour
1 mug brown sugar
3/4 mug white sugar
2 1/2 mugs water
6g instant dry yeast
grated coconut with a bit of salt
1. Blend the cooked rice with water till fine
2. Add in sugar and continue blending.
3. In a plastic container, mix flour, rice flour and instant yeast.
4. Pour the liquid into the mixed flour and mix well.
5. Leave to prove for 3 hours.
6. Pour into the plastic cups till full and steam for about 15 minutes.
7. Serve with grated coconut and a bit salt
You can also use cane sugar or jaggeri instead of brown sugar.
A LOVELY LESSON FOR LIFE...
|A student asks a teacher: What is love?
The teacher said: in order to answer your question, go to the paddy field and choose the biggest paddy and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick. The student went to the field, go thru first row, he saw one big paddy, but he wonders....may be there is a bigger one later. Then he saw another bigger one... but may be there is an even bigger one waiting for him. Later, when he finished more than half of the paddy field, he start to realize that the paddy is not as big as the previous one he saw, he know he has missed the biggest one, and he regretted. So, he ended up went back to the teacher with empty hand.
The teacher told him, this is love... you keep looking for a better one, but when later you realize, you have already miss the person
The student asked: What is marriage then?
The teacher said: In order to answer your question, go to the corn field and choose the biggest corn and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick.
The student went to the corn field, this time he is careful not to repeat the previous mistake, when he reach the middle of the field, he has picked one medium corn that he feel satisfied, and came back to the teacher.
The teacher told him, this time you bring back a corn.... you look for one that is just nice, and you have faith and believe this is the best one you get.... this is marriage
Be courteous to all , but intimate with few , and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.

For example, mama memang fobia nak buat Cream Puffs sebab madang je tak jadi, but yesterday, mama try resipi seorang kawan cyber and alhamdulillah menjadi cantik sekali. Still waiting for her green lights to share the recipe here. So, you see, kalau keep on trying, insyaAllah, one day akan berjaya juga!
