There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there."

A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are very rare jewels, indeed! They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us."

Life is not keeping me well these couple of weeks hence the lack of updating the page and the comments as well. The whole family (except Syahmi) was down with coughing, fever and flu. And besides that a few other things came up which really distract me. Best unsaid. Anyway, just for the sake of updating, these were what I had been doing during my absence.... take care of yourself and each other ya.....

Made these strawberry and chocolate swiss rolls for my parents, Anna and Kak Hafsah (the lady who helps my parents at home)



Recipe to share today is Mee Basah, my very own recipe. So as usual, try at your own risk and the amount for the ingredients are just an estimation.




MEE BASAH

Ingredients
:

1 packet of egg noodles (500g)
2 pieces fish cake ~ sliced
fresh prawns ~ cleaned
3 tablespoons chillie paste
5 shallots ~ minced
2 cloves garlic ~ minced
2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soya sauce
1 tablespoon tomato sauce
salt to taste
sugar to taste
enough water
bak choy

Method :

1. Heat a bit of cooking oil in a wok. Add in the chillie paste and fry till fragrant. Add in the minced items (garlic and shallots). Fry for another a minute or two.
2. Add in oyster sauce, tomato sauce and soya sauce. Mix well.
3. Add water, sugar and salt to taste. Put in the fish cakes and prawns.
4. Finally add in the egg noodles and bak choy. Ready to serve.

Bahan-bahan
:

1 peket mee kuning (500g)
2 keping kek ikan ~ dihiris
udang segar ~ dibersihkan
3 sudu besar pes cili
5 biji bawang merah ~ ditumbuk
2 biji bawang putih ~ ditumbuk
2 sudu besar sos tiram
1 sudu besar kicap manis
1 sudu besar sos tomato
garam secukup rasa
gula secukup rasa
air secukupnya
sayur sawi

Kaedah penyedeiaan :

1. Panaskan sedikit minyak di dalam kuali dan tumiskan pes cili hingga wangi. Masukkan bawang merah dan bawang putih yang telah ditumbuk. Tumis untuk seminit dua lagi.
2. Masukkan sos tiram, sos tomato dan kicap manis. Kacau rata.
3. Tambahkan air, gula dan garam secukupnya. Masukkan kek ikan dan udang. Biar udang masak.
4. Akhir sekali, masukkan mee kuning dan sayur sawi. Kacau rata dan sedia untuk dihidangkan
