GULAI PUCUK UBI

 
 
1st May = Labour's Day = Holiday in Malaysia... we went back to Malacca. We were in Malacca till Sunday. Had a wonderful time and not to mention tiring, but I enjoyed every second of it! Hubby and me were always in and out of the house! Thank God my mom didn't say,"Kau buat rumah mak ni macam hotel aje!" Hahaha...translation...'you make my house like a hotel!" Hahaha....But I did spend ample and quality time with my parents. We went to dine at the Medan Ikan Bakar, Anjong Batu Jetty, joined by my brother and his family. Followed mom to pasar malam Ayer Molek and the best part was mom accompanied me watching Akademi Fantasia! See, how sporting my mom is. Dad as usual, slept early due to his health.

On Saturday evening, we went for a ride. No specific location at first. We ended up in Muar Johor! We drove along the new Lebuhraya AMJ, just to see how it looks like and also to see the other bridge of Muar. Unfortunately I didn't bring along my camera, so no photos, sorry.

On Sunday, started as early as 9.15 am from my parent's house. Stopped by at Tesco and Carrefour Malacca to get our kids' food supply. Got carried away with the shopping and only started our journey back to Kuala Lumpur at 12.15 noon. At 1 pm mom phoned, thinking that we've already reached our house long before! Hahaha... She was so surprised when I said, we're still on the way!

Ok ok...enough of my boring diary...let's move on to the recipe to share today. Don't fret okay, there'll be no more cakes and cupcakes deco entry at the moment as I don't have any reason to bake any, at least at the moment unless I can't help myself. Hehehe...which is totally not impossible! The recipe today will be this dish, which I've tried from RASA Magazine (May 2008).



GULAI PUCUK UBI
Source : RASA Magazine (May 2008)

Ingredients :

(A)

500g pucuk ubi
50g dried anchovies
400 ml water

(B)

2 onions
1 clove garlic
2 cm ginger
2 candlenuts
1 stalk lemon grass

(C)

Thick coconut milk from 1 coconut
salt to taste

Method :

1. Place ingredients A and B in a pot and simmer for 15 minutes.
2. Add thick coconut milk and salt to taste.
3. Leave to simmer for a few minutes and ready to serve.

Bahan-bahan :

(A)
500g pucuk ubi
50g ikan bilis
400 ml air

(B)
2 biji bawang besar
1 ulas bawang putih
2 sm halia
2 biji buah keras
1 batang serai

(C)
1 biji kelapa ~ ambil santan pekat
garam secukup rasa

Kaedah penyediaan :

1. Masukkan bahan A dan B ke dalam periuk dan rebus selama 15 minit.
2. Tuangkan santan pekat dan tambahkan garam secukup rasa.
3. Biarkan mendidih sebentar dan sedia dihidangkan.
