Bubur Merah Putih (Ishzah)

 
 
Yesterday night, for dinner, the kids requested for Nandos...so mama had a break from preparing dinner! Yipee! And since I've been 'behaving' all week long, by eating very very VERY little rice, I decided to treat myself to Strips and Rice. Gosh...the way those food smell in the car...oooo makes me drool just by mentioning it here! I don't actually feel guilty by ordering that because even Dr Rita had said, be strict from Mondays to Fridays and take a break during weekends! Maybe she's just saying this because she felt pity for me...hahahaha....mama is so dramatic in expressing her 'grief', that's why the doctor felt sorry! But then, that was at the beginning, when I just started to stay away from rice. Well, to be honest, I won't say that I am on a diet. I don't want to be on diet especially if I have certain points or rules to follow when eating. It makes me more miserable. And if I want to do something, I'd do it happily. So now, I'd say, I am watching what I eat and not dieting. Dolly had given me this printout of a programme for slimming. According to this programme, each food has it's own points and you have to count your points and mustn't exceed certain points for one day. So basically, I will just use that as a reference...

Back to the Strips and Rice...I've ordered a hot one and OMG was it hot or what! Yesterday's 'hot' was just tremendously hot! Normally when I had ask for hot, it was either reasonably hot or sometimes not hot at all. The way I teared while eating. Had asked for a sip of Pepsi from the kids and that doesn't help. Then Syahmi said,"Mama, can I take for you a glass of milk?". With my blurry eyes, I asked him,"What for?". And he explained to me that milk will help reduce the hotness. And guess what, it really worked! Syahmi said, he had watched it in Brainiac at Discovery Channel, a programme about science. See, sometimes watching TV wasn't all that bad...I had a very 'hot' tummy yesterday night...but...that doesn't stop mama from sleeping soundly! I am just too good at sleeping!

This morning, I didn't do my morning walks. Sunday is my mopping and ironing day (besides all other days when I have the time ). So I guess, skipping the morning walks won't do any harm as I sweat while mopping!

We had a late lunch as hubby came back late from golfing. These were what hubby and kids had for our late lunch....

For today's recipe, let me just paste this recipe that Ishzah has kindly paste it on my request. Thank you so much Ishzah for taking your time to put the recipe up for all of us to share. Actually I made this quite a while ago, a few days after Ishzah put it on her page. I used rice instead of glutinous rice, just the way my late Mak Nah use to prepare them, if there's any special occassion. So here's the recipe to share.....



BUBUR MERAH PUTIH

Ingredients
:

4 tin glutinous rice ~ washed and soak for a night
2 screwpine leaves ~ knotted
* 500 ml coconut milk (in a box)
* Enough water
1 teaspoon salt
Brown sugar
White sugar

* I didn't use coconut milk mixed with water. I used fresh milk instead

Method :

1. In a big pot, boil glutinous rice.
2. Add in enough water and coconut milk. Put in the knotted screwpine leaves.
3. Add in a salt. Stir to avoid the rice to stick to the bottom of the pot.
4. When rice softened, remove 1/3 of the amount into another pot.
5. Add white sugar to the 2/3 portion and stir well.
6. Into the 1/3 portion, add brown sugar.
7. When cooked, remove from heat.
8. When serving, scoop the white porridge into a bowl and top that with the brown porridge.

Bahan - bahan
:

4 tin susu beras pulut - bersihkan dan rendam semalaman.
2 helai daun pandan - simpulkan
500 ml santan kotak
Air - secukupnya (anggaran mcm buat bubur nasi gitu - sebab ishzah tak sukat airnya)
1 s/teh garam
Gula merah - secukup rasa dan warna (Jika kurang manis, tambahkan dengan gula pasir)
Gula pasir - secukup rasa

Cara - caranya :
Dalam satu periuk besar, rebuskan beras pulut yg telah di rendam semalaman.
Masukkan air secukupnya serta kesemua santan tadi dan daun pandan.
Masukkan sedikit garam.
Kacau perlahan-lahan untuk memastikan pulutnya bila mengembang ianya tak berkerak di dasar periuk.

Bila pulut mula agak kembang, senduk pulut secukupnya untuk bahagian putih ke dalam periuk kecil.
Masukkan gula merah di bahagian pulut yg ingin di merahkan.
Kacau dengan perlahan rata-rata agar gulanya sebati.Rasa manisnya.
Jika kurang masukkan sedikit-sedikit gula pasir.Rasa manisnya lagi.

Bahagian pulut berwarna putih, anda masukkan sedikit demi sedikit gula pasir. Rasa manisnya.
Bila pulut sudah mula mengembang seperti yang anda kehendaki.Padamkan api.
Dalam sebuah mangkuk, masukkan bubur merah kemudian di susuli bubur putih di atasnya dan hidang.
Sedap di makan waktu panas-panas.

Note :
Ada diantaranya suka masak bubur merah ini dengan menggunakan gula melaka.Ada pula yang guna beras biasa sahaja... tapi ishzah suka guna beras pulut dan gula merah.Anda boleh pelbagaikannya. Kalau ada yang tak faham jangan segan untuk bertanya Lady Boss ISHZAH .....sebab mama ni promoter aje...
