Yesterday, since Fatin had to stay back for afternoons, I had to pack lunch for her as well. There is a canteen in school selling Halaal food by a Lebanese lady besides all the junk food but Fatin refused to go and buy things from the canteen. Reason being, there's so many students at the canteen. But I think the main reason is she wanted to save her pocket money for some unknown reason. So mama has to cater for her lunch. I just fried a beef burger and put it on a roll, just plain without sauce or lettuce or whatsoever. And yesterday morning was quite chaotic for some reason. I was imagining myself being a big huge octopus doing lots of things at a time....Now Ursula of Little Mermaid comes to mind...hehehe....So the burger was slightly burnt. And since time was running out, I just packed that for her lunch. In the evening, when she came back, she told me, "Mom, your burger today was so nice! What did you put inside?" I just laughed out loud and gave her a delivish look and said,"I put a spell in it!!!!" Moral of the story : Not all burnt food taste yucky!

I said I was going to cook Sardine for yesterday's lunch but I didn't. Hubby wasn't having lunch so I didn't cook and the kids wanted just bread. So today, finally I cooked sardine for lunch and for the kids, I made them these, which they said wasn't enough and Fatin wanted it for her breakbox tomorrow morning. I'll see if I can manage......



After a long time, 'resting' from making new experiments, finally yesterday evening, I managed to try out two new recipes. And one of them is Broiche. Though the look is definately not tempting, but the taste is there. Thank you to Mr Alex Goh for this lovely recipe. My sister bought Mr Alex Goh's The World of Bread book for me and hubby brought it back here a few years ago. I find that the recipes in his book is so reliable and worth buying. Here's the recipe...



Jangan ketawa aaa....walaupun rupamu kelakar, rasamu tetap memikat kalbu ku....wakakaka
BROICHE

Ingredients
:

(A)
250 g bread flour
(I just used cake flour)
1 teaspoon salt
25 g sugar
2 teaspoons instant yeast

(B)
2 eggs
50 ml cold water
(I should have used lukewarm water as it is a bit chilly here)

(C)
100 g butter

Method :

1. Mix (A) till well blended. Add (B) and mix to form a dough.
2. Add (C) and continue to knead till a soft, smooth and elastic dough is formed.
3. Shape it into a big ball. Wrap the container with the dough with a clean plastic bag and let it prove for 1 hour or till double the size.
4. Punch down the dough to let the air out. Knead slightly and make into a big ball once again. Cover with cling film and keep in the fridge for an hour.
5. Remove the dough from the fridge and divide dough into 40g pieces. Shape them into balls and put them into 8 cm broiche fluted mould
(I don't actually know how this broiche mould looks like. I just used my small tart mould to do the job for me!) Press the centre with your finger to make a deep indentation.
6. Make some small balls from the remaining dough and place them into the indentations.
7. Brush on some egg wash and leave the dough to prove for 50 minutes.
(I skipped the egg wash step!)
8. Brush with egg wash again and bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 15 minutes. Serve.

Bahan-bahan
:

(A)
250 g tepung roti
(Mama guna tepung kek aje)
1 sudu teh garam
25 g gula
2 sudu kecil yis segera

(B)
2 biji telur
50 ml air sejuk
(Mama sepatutnya guna air suam sebab sini agak sejuk cuacanya semalam)

(C)
100 g mentega

Kaedah :

1. Gaulkan (A) sehingga sebati. Tuangkan (B) dan uli hingga menjadi doh.
2. Masukkan (C) dan terus menguli sehingga doh menjadi lembut dan elastik.
3. Bentukkan doh menjadi satu bola besar dan bungkuskan bekas berisi doh dengan sehelai beg plastik bersih. Biarkan doh naik selama sejam atau sehingga dua kali ganda saiz asal.
4. Tumbukkan doh, dan uli sekali lagi. Bentukkan menjadi satu bola besar dan bungkus semula dengan plastik. Simpan di dalam peti ais selama 1 jam.
5. Keluarkan doh dari peti ais dan bahagikan doh kepada bebola seberat 40 g setiap satu. Bulat-bulatkan dan letak di atas acuan jejalur Broiche. Tekan bahagian tengah doh untuk membuat satu lekuk.
6. Dengan doh yang berlebihan, bentukkan menjadi bebola kecil dan letakkan di atas lekuk tadi.
7. Sapukan dengan kuning telur dan biar doh naik selama 50 minit.
8. Sapukan kuning telur sekali lagi di atasnya dan bakar di dalam oven yang telah dipanaskan terlebih dahulu pada suhu 180 C selama 15 minit.
