BRO ROZZAN'S : CHEESE STRAW & NAGASARI

 
 
 
TORN BETWEEN TWO LOVERS.....huhuhu....why all of a sudden, this ol' lady is so jiwang! Let's see....well, temperature ok, eyes ok, ears ok...and most importantly...appetite very ok! So why mama, why?! Who are those two lovers of yours?

Once upon a time....lorrrr dia buat dahhh....today, I had a hard time choosing...between the two that I love...my iron and my kitchen...ek ele......wakakaka....Though it's a very hard choice, I chose my kitchen. And how many new recipes today from my cute lil kitchen? Hmm..lets see...1 for breakfast, none for lunch, 3 in the 'Tea' category and none for dinner. So all together 4 new recipes! Hahaha...this is called hobby....or obsessed maybe? Actually, I wanted to do more, but then I just have to control myself! No mama no...leave it for tomorrow or otherwise, you'll be dead bored not having anything to try for tomorrow. Speaking of which, YIPPEEE TOMORROW'S A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. No school + no work = No hassle bustle in the early morning hours. But actually, I have a plan for tomorrow morning already. If I manage to stay awake after Fajr, then I think I am going to date Miss Salton...wanna make up to her for not choosing her today!

Let's move on to our usual topic...recipe of the day...actually can't really decide on which one...hmmm...I guess, I'll make it two then. Hihihi....you know why? Because there's quite a number of recipes in line already and some, I even forgot that I haven't posted them in my page! But hey...that's when it is not during my L.A.Z.Y season ok! So for today's recipes, I'd like to share with you, two recipes that I've tried from Bro Rozzan's Blog. Thank you so much bro and your cousin Kak Aini, for sharing these recipes with us. I liked the Cheese Straw the best....and thousand apologies because I didn't do justice to your Nagasari recipe. My Nagasari looks so untidy!



NAGASARI

Ingredients :


1 1/2 cups (180g) rice flour
4 1/2 cups (1 litre) thick coconut milk from 1 coconut
1/2 cup (110g) sugar
2 screwpine leaves ~ knotted
1 teaspoon salt
ripe banana ~ cut into half
enough banana leaves ~ scorched (layur)

Method :

1. Mix rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, salt, screwpine leaves in a pot.
2. Cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes till mixture thickens and cooked.
3. Scoop 2 tablespoon of mixture onto the banana leaf, place a piece of banana on top and cover with a bit more mixture.
4. Wrap the banana leaves neatly.
(I didn't manage to do this properly! )
5. Steam for 30 minutes


CHEESE STRAW
Source : Bro Rozzan's cousin, Kak Aini

Ingredients :

400 g flour
100 g cornflour
250 g butter
(I used margarine)
250 g cheese ~ grated (I used cheddar cheese)
1 egg ~ beaten
pinch of salt and pepper

Method :

1. Mix both flours together with salt and pepper.
2. Rub in butter and add in the grated cheese.
3. Mix well all the ingredients and add the beaten egg.
4. Roll the dough and cut into desired shape.
5. Glaze with egg yolk (optional).
6. Bake till golden brown.
