TALAM SUJI/SEMOLINA

I SURRENDER!!!! A phrase that don't normally come out of my mouth unless I really mean it. And this time, I meant it. Unwillingly accepting defeat! As requested by a few visitors to my page, I wanted to post the Talam Suji recipe. But when I checked my printouts, I couldn't find the link where I got the recipe from. I so badly wanted to personally say my thanks to the owner for the lovely recipe. I went hopping from one fotopage to the other but to no avail. It left me feeling frustrated indeed. Whoever you maybe, please make yourself known ya....so that I can be set free from this frustration!!!! ...hok aloh...over nya! wakakaka...

Anyway, here's the said recipe, if anybody wishes to try...I like it.......

TALAM SUJI

Bottom layer :

1 cup sugee/semolina
2 eggs
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup sugar
(I'd suggest 1 1/2 cups)
3 cups coconut milk (I used fresh milk)
2 1/2 cups water
yellow food coloring
(I used brown food coloring as well)

Method :

1. Mix well all the above ingredients using a whisk.
2. Pour through a strainer into a pot and cook on low heat. Don't use the glass pot as it tends to burn easily (I learnt through my mistake!)
3. Continue stirring using the whisk until the mixture is slightly thick but still runny so that you can pour it onto the prepared tin. Do not let it boil.
4. Steam for 20 minutes.

Note :

1. I layered my tin with a piece of heat proof plastic.
2. I wrapped my steamer cover with a clean towel to avoid steam from dripping onto the kuih.

Top layer :

5 medium eggs
3 cups coconut milk
(I used fresh milk)
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar

Method :

4. Remove the tray from the steam and using a fork, make a few lines on the steamed layer so that the top layer will be 'glued' better.
5. Pour the top layer mixture onto the bottom layer and steam for a further 25 minutes.
6. Leave to cool before cutting. It's better to cut using a plastic knife.

3. rozeela>> Oh, kalau bulan 2 dah nak balik, tak payahlah beli memacam. Sabor je la...kumpul je la resepi dulu ye....
4. Sabrina>> Cubalah Sab buat pulak. Senang sesangat nak buat ni. Nanti tentu ayah Sab happy anak perempuan dia buatkan kuih untuk dia.
