LOTS AND LOTS OF THANK YOUs....

 
 
 
 
THANK YOU! In this entry, there'll be so many thanks yous. You'll know why as you read on...

Yesterday, I spent most of my time infront of the pc, surfing the net while chatting. One of them is MamaZieza and we really chat I tell you, for more than 2 hours! Thanks mama for putting up with all my nonsense. I had a great time with you yesterday. And among the topic, she mentioned something about Riyadh. I had been wanting to track a friend, more like a sister to me, Kak Jamaliah, in Riyadh for quite sometime. And yesterday (16th December) happened to be her wedding anniversary. MamaZieza had been so kind enough as to ask her friend in Riyadh, Nor, whom she was chatting with at that time, whether she knows Kak Mal or not and she said yes but she doesn't have her number. Nor then called another friend to ask for Kak Mal's number...dah macam program Jejak Kasih ler plak gamaknya yek.... And I GOT KAK MAL's NUMBER FINALLY! Gave her a call to wish her personally. I am so happy. So my first thank yous are to MamaZieza, Nor and her friend. Thank you so much for all your help. I really appreciate it very much my dears......Thank you.....

And yesterday, I was just glued in front of the pc, for lunch, hubby had to buy takeaways! Could you just imagine that! What a lousy wife I had been yesterday. Luckily, hubby never complained at all. He's such a darling! So yesterday, I considered I'm on off. Hahaha...Towards night time, I had a backache. And this morning, I told myself, I mustn't be infront of the pc for too long and that was exactly what I did. Not infront of the pc but was in the kitchen the whole morning and half of the afternoon! There are days when you just can't decide on what to experiment and keep on flipping through the pages. But today was one of the days that I really don't have that problem at all. It seems, I kept on flipping to the right page. Ended up experimenting 4 new recipes altogether. And for today, I'll paste two of them first. And they were among my menu for lunch today...fish and more fish.....


THANK YOU SIS ROSSYA...for this easy and lovely recipe. My mom used to cook this when we were small and she had called it SzeChuan Fish but Kak Rossya had a very cute and catchy name for it...


IKAN POTONG CILI BAWANG

Ingredients :


a few piece of fish ~ fried
2 red and green chillies ~ seeded and sliced
1 onion ~ sliced
2 cloves garlic ~ sliced
a bowl of tamarind juice
salt and sugar to taste

Method :

1. Heat the wok and add a bit of cooking oil.
2. Fry chillies, onion and garlic till fragrant.
3. Pour in the tamarind juice.
4. Add salt and sugar to taste.
5. Add in the fish.
6. Once boiled, remove from heat.


THANK YOU SIS SALWANA...for another simple recipe of vegetable. I am always so curious when I come across a recipe that requires cucumber as one of the ingredients. Before I use to think that cucumber is just for salad. Surprisingly, they can be transformed into so many other delicious dishes. One of them is what was offered by Sis Salwana. Thank you very much for the recipe. I enjoyed it very much...


STIR FRY CUCUMBER WITH SOYA SAUCE

Ingredients :


1 large cucumber ~ cut into wedges
2 shallots ~ sliced
2 cloves garlic ~ sliced
1 red chillie ~ seeded and sliced
1/2 teaspoon chicken stock pwder
dark soy sauce
5 - 8 prawns ~ shelled and deveined
a bit of water

Method :

1. Heat the wok and add a bit of cooking oil.
2. Fry chillies, onion and garlic till fragrant.
3. Add in the prawns and fry till half cooked.
4. Add in the cucumbers, chicken stock, soy sauce and a bit of water.
5. Cover the wok and reduce heat.
6. When cucumber is half cooked, dish up.


THANK YOU MAK...firstly for bringing me into this world and for all that you had done for me. One of those loads and loads of things, is teaching me to cook. I can still remember, the very first dish that you taught me to prepare is Sambal. And I think, I can be proud of my sambal now. I can never thank you enough mak...you are the best mom for us..........


FISH SAMBAL

Ingredients :


Fish ~ fried
3 tablespoons chillie paste
4 shallots
1 onion ~ cut into rings
2 cloves garlic
Shrimp paste (belacan)
Tamarind juice
Coconut milk (I used fresh milk)
Lemon grass ~ bruised
Salt and sugar to taste
Oil for cooking

Method :

1. Blend the chillie, shallots, garlic and shrimp paste into paste.
2. Heat the wok and add oil.
3. Add in the blended paste and lemon grass. Fry till fragrant.
4. Add in tamarind juice and coconut milk.
5. Add sugar and salt to taste.
6. Finally, put in the onion rings and remove from heat.
7. Pour on top of the fish.
8. Ready to serve.




It's getting really late now. Mama has to go get some sleep but will sleep peacefully tonight, as I already have something planned for tomorrow's breakfast...something new.... Till then, take care and have a good day everyone....
