MANGOCHI TRIP (1)

I'm back. Actually I was back last Monday evening, but didn't get the chance to update the page as I was busy unpacking and getting things back into order again. And this morning, managed to mop the house despite not feeling too well.

We left for MANGOCHI, about 3 hours drive from Blantyre at 8.30 am last Saturday morning via Zomba Road. A friend of hubby's had offered us to stay at their cottage at the lake. He had been offering since our early years here in Malawi, but hubby was just too busy to go there. Thank you so much to Mr Iqbal and Aunty Zuleikha for allowing us to stay at your cottage.

When starting our journey to Mangochi, in the car, hubby had said, we must just enjoy ourselves at the lake, relax and just eat and sleep! Ooo...that sounds heaven to my ears! Well, we reached the cottage at about 12 noon, because we've stopped at a couple of places to get stuffs. The cook wasn't there, so for lunch, we had to find our way through the kitchen and start preparing our lunch of T-Bone Steak and chips. Around 1pm, the cook, Anderson is the name, came back from where ever he went. Hubby had asked him to prepare the barbecue for us to grill the prawns, sausages and chicken. Anderson was bbq-ing the prawns half way when hubby took him along to buy some fresh fishes. Mangochi is one of the places where we get fresh fishes, mainly Chambo or in Malaysia, it's something like Talapia. I ended up bbq-ing everything!

Hubby came back with loads of Chambo, but I wasn't worried at all because there's Anderson to take care of everything! Some he made into fillets and some, he just cleaned them. This time, he managed to get some very good sized fishes at quite a reasonable price.

In the evening, we just sat infront of the cottage, lazying around and enjoying the lovely view of Lake Malawi....

The next day, my head started throbbing. Too much rest maybe. I guess, the word relax and DOING NOTHING is just not meant for me...what a pity! Haha...nope...the truth is, it was the heat. Despite my lousy condition, I went along with the rest of the family for a boat ride to Cape McClear.

We reached at the cottage around 6.30 pm and I just laid down and sleep. Hubby's the one who organised the food for all of us. Had been wanting to eat the vegetable, the Malawian way of cooking and really wanted to see how Anderson prepared them but just don't have the energy to go into the kitchen. So hubby had been such a darling to see how Anderson prepared it. He even told the kids not to make so much noise as mama is not well. And when dinners ready, he woke me up to dine. But I just managed to eat a bit. After that, went straight to bed, on the fan and hubby sprinkle a bit of water on my head and that really helps. I fell asleep till the next morning. Alhamdulillah...refreshed!

The next morning, we had a simple breakfast of baked beans, chicken viennas, bread and fried eggs to go with a cup of hot chocolate. Then relax again till noon. After Zohor prayers, we started packing. Stopped at Mangochi Ice Cream Den to have our lunch and off to home sweet home...On the way, we stopped to buy these....

16. Aliza>> Thanks for the explaination ya...
17. maR>> Mama pun sama cam Mar tapi tu la, betul cakap Mar, nanti orang kata ngada-ngada plak. But the truth is, memang kepala ni tak tahan sangat panas. Startlah dia berdenyut. Agaknya, dah terbiasa dengan cuaca yang nyaman di sini and I've been here for 6 years already.
18. mama awatif&adam>> Betul tu...gi holiday tu memang sedaplah, tapi bila balik tu, kenalah kemas sendiri.

20. Yani Cologne>> Waalaikumussalam Yani. Malawi is still preserving it's natural beauty. Memang sepanjang jalan, kita dapat melihat kehijauan di sekeliling. Yani dah nak pack barang? Nak balik for good ke? Kami ni, still menunggu arahan. So tak surelah berapa lama lagi di sini....

24. Ina>> Mentang-mentang dia tengah winter, tengok bbq begitu berselera ye! By the way, mama rasa, kalau resipi muffin, tak berapa sesuai untuk buat a whole cake. Sebab texture muffin itself is a bit hard compared to cupcakes. Tapi kalau resipi cupcakes, insyaAllah sesuai kalau dibuat sebagai whole cake, wallahu'alam.
25. muni>> Indeed it's a beautiful place. Orang-orang di sini, so far, friendly and polite. Yup, we had a lovely time...tu lom tunjuk what we did kat Cape McClear. Will be posting another two entries on this trip, insyaAllah....

34. maz_n_dar>> Last August ada plan nak pergi Tanzania sebenarnya. Nak pergi Ngorogoro, tapi bila dah gi ambil quotation dari travel agencies, ya Allah mahal sungguh. Terus cancel. Kalau tahu Mar ada kat sana, leh ler buat muka kesian nak tumpang tidur tumpang mandi je... Hehe..acah je!
35. fifi fad fadratul@hotmail.com>> Didn't mention that it's a Muslim country tapi Muslim population ramai lah. Like kat Mangochi tu, ramai orang Islam. Halaal food, insyaAllah mudah. Mango sini, manis dan tebal. Sedap!
36. Acik>> This time tak, just to the lake, memalaskan diri. Hehehe.....Cuba Acik imagine....udang bakar, cicah dengan kicap cili potong diperah limau, then makan dengan nasi lemak....pehhhhh....leleh Acik oi!
