Keeping Life Simple
(from one of the emails I received...)

The lives of children are considerably simpler than those of grown-ups. As we age, we allow much chaos, complexity and negativity into our lives.

This week, let's go back to the basics, and explore some ways to live more simply.

Don't place too much emphasis on "more". Instead, expect a lot from "less". When you expect more and end up with less, you naturally get disappointed. Allow small and simple things to give you maximum satisfaction.

Try cutting back a little during meals, for instance. Enjoy more vegetables and fruit. This has got nothing to do with weight-watching. Most people eat more than what they need. Scientific research has shown that eating less actually improves health and extends life. Pumping in too much food overworks the body.

Occasional indulgences are beneficial for mental health, but frankly, most people want too much. More material goods, more attention, more recognition, more respect. Chuck out the question "Do I have enough?" in favour of "Do I really need more?" You'll realise that you can be happier when you give what you could've had to the ones who need it more.

When people get moody and frustrated, they turn to various things for therapy. Some people take alcoholidays. Others let their tears run, then go for a run. Some sob, then shop. But the simplest and most effective way is to turn to nature for healing. Let the beauty and wonder of nature wash over your soul.

Go for the simple and functional. In our technology-laden world, do things really work better? Or do complex machines simply complicate things? Products and services used to be designed to be brimming with features and extras. But people are increasingly opting for the ones which do the job in the most straightforward and most efficient way.

Don't pretend to be what you are not. You can truly be free only if you discard the facades, the put-on behaviour, the things you buy to impress others. Erase that obsession with how others perceive you and embrace yourself.

Not much to say here today as nothing interesting happened...just the normal routine. But for lunch today, made two new experiments. One for the kids, which I'll reveal soon and the other one for hubby and me, which will be saved for later entries.

I made Chicken Burger for the kids. Naseem gave me this recipe quite sometimes back but I only managed to try it just now. According to the kids, the chicken burger was nice and well enjoyed by them. To be honest, I didn't get to taste it as I made only two pieces for them. Thank you Naseem for the lovely and simple recipe of Chicken Burger and may you and Ishmael have a safe journey to perform your Hajj. Our duaas are with you guys....
