I won't be writing much today for these reasons :
1. I have piles and piles of clothes to be ironed.
2. My tummy is growling of hunger! Haven't taken any breakfast just yet and oh, even my medication as well! I don't really want to be like yesterday...like I'm on a sailing ship! ...sib baiklah kapal... adalah mahap bagimu... kalau kata tongkang pecah tadi, lagilah haru!!!!...
3. Main reason will be....I don't have any ideas to write! Muahahaha.....

Recipe to share is this Apam Gula Hangus, a Malay kuih that I've printed out from Mama Sofwat Fotopage, ages ago! Made these for last weekend's breakfast. Thanks Mama Sofwat for sharing the recipe. Keep well that side ya.....
APAM GULA HANGUS

Ingredients :
2 eggs
1 cup castor sugar
1 cup fresh milk
1/2 cup butter ~ melted
1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
Method :
1. Melt the sugar on very low heat until the color turns golden brown
2. Place eggs, milk and melted butter in a blender. Blend for 4 minutes.
3. Pour in the caramel and the bicarbonate soda. Bleand for a few more minutes.
4. Finally add in the flour and stir to mix.
5. Spoon batter into small red plastic cups or cupcake's mould.
6. Steam over rapid boiling water for about 15 minutes if using the small cups and 45 minutes if you're using a big tray (greased with oil).

Bahan-bahan :
2 biji telur
1 cawan gula kastor
1 cawan susu segar
1/2 cawan mentega ~ dicairkan (mama guna majerin je!)
1 sudu kecil soda bikarbonat
1 1/2 cawan tepung naik sendiri
Kaedah penyediaan :
1. Masak gula kastordi atas api perlahan sehingga hangus, sejukkan sekejap suam.
2. Blender telur, susu dan mentega cair. Kisar selama 4 minit.
3. Kemudian masukkan gula karamel tadi bersama soda. Kisar sekejap.
4. Masukkan tepung naik sendiri, sedikit demi sedikit. Kacau biar sebati.
5. Sapukan loyang dengan minyak.
6. Kukus selama 45 minit atau hingga masak. |

STRAWBERRY BATIK SWISS ROLL

Where has mama gone to? No updates for a couple of days where else last week, mama will update her page almost everyday? Has she gone to London to see the queen?...huhuhu...kalaulah ada duit lebih yang dah tak tahu apa nak buat...harus tu pergi London!.... Well, the London part is incorrect but the queen part, yes. Infact not only I went to see the queen, but the king as well! The King and Queen of my heart...aka my beloved darling parents! We've fetched the kids from school on Friday afternoon and then off to Melaka where we stayed there till Sunday morning. Made an early start home as we wanted to take the seaside route again! And of course, when seaside is concerned, there will definately be a few stops along the way!! But this time, no photos as mama didn't come out of the car, was just too lazy!
Friday night, we went to Serkam Pantai for Ikan Bakar treat, together with mak and abah. Saturday morning, I drove mak and abah to the hemodylisis centre in Bachang! Guess what? Abah said, my driving is good! ...huhuhu...dah lulus tahap 1 mutu sirim abah nampaknya..ahaksss.... That makes me feel good! Hehehe......adehhh pantanglah kena jack sikit..kembang setaman! ...hihihi.... And oh, not only abah said my driving is getting better, but the cakes that I brought home was also nice........wah, terlebih sudah mengangkat diri sendiri nampaknya... amponnnn...
Anyway, before I go over the limit praising myself, let me just go to the recipe for today. I hope you won't get tired of looking at my swiss rolls ya as I think, it's swiss roll season in my house! This was one of the cakes that I brought for abah. Mak was so delighted to see the patterns on the rolls. There's a story behind the making of this swiss rolls. I had call mak on Thursday to inform her that we're going back probably on Friday. I had asked her, what flavour Swiss Roll she'd like me to bake for her and she had chosen strawberry. Soon as I put down the phone, I was off to the kitchen. Had been wanting to try baking swiss rolls using just the bottom heat thinking that I might get a better colored surface. So I did! The result was almost a disaster! The bottom of the cake got burnt. After removing the cake from the oven, I quickly overturned the cake and sliced out the burnt part. Luckily it wasn't that thick. So at least I get a thinner swiss roll. The surface of the swiss roll was slightly stuck to the paper as I took quite sometime to 'butcher' the cake! Since I wasn't satisfied with the look, I baked another strawberry swiss roll using the top and bottom heat. I guess my oven is not suitable to use just the bottom heat.....
STRAWBERRY SWISS ROLL
Ingredients :
(A)
3 nos eggs
2 oz castor sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/2 teaspoon strawberry essence
1/2 tablespoon ovallette
1.5 oz flour
1/2 tablespoon milk powder
a few drops of pink coloring
(B)
2 oz butter ~ melted
(C)
a few drops of red food coloring
(D)
Buttercream icing
Method :
1. Place ingredients A in a mixing bowl. Beat on high speed for 5 to 7 minutes.
2. Set aside 1 tablespoon of the batter and put into a piping bag with a few drops of red food coloring. Mix well.
3. Spread the batter onto the tray layered with greaseproof paper.
4. Pipe lines using the darker colored batter onto the light pink batter.
5. Using a cake skewer, make lines across the dark colored lines to create batik effect.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 C for 20 minutes.
8. Once baked, remove the cake from the tray onto a wire rack. Let it cool.
9. Turn the cake onto another piece of paper and spread the buttercream.
10. Slowly and carefully, roll the cake. Wrap in a clingfilm and keep in the refrigerator for the buttercream to set before slicing it.

(loyang 8 x 11 inci)
Bahan-bahan :
3 biji telur gred A @ B
2 oz gula castor
1/2 sudu teh baking powder
1/4 sudu teh esen vanilla
1/2 sudu teh esen stroberi
1/2 sudu besar ovallete
1.5 oz tepung gandum
1/2 sudu besar susu tepung
2 oz mentega cair
1 1/2 sudu besar serbuk koko
butter icing secukupnya
Kaedah penyediaan :
- Telur, gula, ovallete, baking powder, esen vanilla, esen stroberi, tepung gandum dan susu tepung dipukul dengan kelajuan maksima sehingga gebu (5-7minit)
- Masukkan mentega cair, kemudian kaup balikkan biar rata.
- Asingkan 1 sudu besar adunan merah jambu dan masukkan ke dalam piping bag. Campurkan dengan beberapa titik pewarna merah terang. Bancuh sebati.
- Tuangkan adunan merah jambu tadi ke dalam loyang kemudian ratakan permukaannya.
- Paipkan adunan merah terang tadi di atas adunan yg diratakan dlm loyang
- Lorekkan/corakkan dgn menggunakan lidi
- Bakar dalam ketuhar yang telah dipanaskan terlebih dahulu pada suhu 170 C selama 20 minit, api atas dan bawah.
- Apabila kek sudah masak, keluarkan dari oven ke atas redai. Biarkan sejuk. Letakkan sekeping kertas di atas bahagian yang berlorek kemudian terbalikkan.
- Keluarkan kertas alas semasa membakar. Sapu permukaan dengan butter icing.
- Gulung kek tadi perlahan-lahan dan cermat.
- Balutkan dengan cling film dan simpankan di dalam peti ais untuk mengentalkan buttercream.
- Potong dan hidangkan. |
Another reason why we started our journey home earlier than usual was because we didn't want to miss the final Olympic Badminton Match, the match for gold and silver. We waited in front of the television from 6.00 pm right up till the match that we really waited for, ended. Though Lee Chong Wei didn't get the gold medal for our country, but we're happy to see at least Malaysia's flag was up in the stadium. Congratulations to Chong Wei and also his coach Haji Misbun Sidek. Though he had tried his best, but I can see that Lin Dan's performance is much better. Of course right...he's the world's number 1 player! What do you expect!!!!
