FRIED TAPIOCA

Assalamualaikum and good day everyone! Hmmm...mama sounded like she's in a good mood eh? It's because, I've done 90% of the house chores and the time is not even 9am yet. Good start huh! That is today....Let me write about my yesterday's story!

13th May, 2008.....
I started my morning walk at 6.45am. I was late actually. Normally I love to start walking at around 6.30am. I walked 5 rounds the playground infront of the house. That took me 30 minutes of brisk walking. Then Kak Ana joined me for the leisure morning walk till 8.30am. Had my breakfast of mihun goreng that I bought from the lady who sells breakfast under the umbrella not far from my house....very convenient huh...and that explains why mama is so lacking in making kuihs nowadays! Why trouble myself when I can enjoy 3 different kinds of kuihs at only RM1. Hehehe....inilah antara bait-bait bahasa indah mama tatkala malas nak dok kat dapur! Ahaksss.....

After the 'tank' is filled up with mihun goreng and a mug full of Pearl Cafe...semalam boleh minum coffee sebab tak sakit kepala ok....ahakss...nyedapkan hati sendiri sebenarnya!... I started ironing...yeah Dolls, I am still dating my darling Mr Iron, but this time, it's no longer Mr Salton, but Mr Phillips....much better looking...hahaha..... Ironed for a good 3 1/2 hours straight. In that period, I think I drank not less than 4 glasses of water! The best part is, both my big ironing baskets are EMPTY! Yippeeeee!!!! Done with ironing, I climbbed the ladder and cleaned the fans' blades. I did that with a bit of guilty feeling actually. Hubby had said, NOT to clean it. He'll do it later as he's worry that I might get giddy and fall off the steps. But alhamdulillah, I cleaned it without any problem. I'm just so happy to see the clean blades and proceed to cleaning the lamp shade. Done with that, I grabbed the broom and up I go...No no noooo....not like what Harry Potter did! I went up the stairs with the broom, to sweep the rooms upstairs! Hahahaha..... Then I mopped the house and wash the bathrooms....Whoa Whoa Whoaa...mama was just out of control yesterday... too energetic... must be something she ate! Hahaha....But mind you, yesterday, I had mihun for breakfast, 3 pieces of wholemeal bread with a mug of milk for lunch and dinner, a plate of fried tapioca and a mug of milk as well....alhamdulillah.....

In the evening, I just enjoyed my novel....currently reading Meniti Kasih by Chef Norzailina. I am at the critical part of the story...uhuk uhuk....Speaking of books, I have this habit....when reading novels, I will some sort like go into the character.....hishhh...macam kena rasuk pulak bunyiknya....macam citer Hantu Singapura tu...hiiiihihiiiihihihiiiiii.... and at the moment...'I' am at a romantic place with a very good looking guy (in this case, my hubby comes into the picture. But if you are reading, don't picture my hubby or I will Muahahahahaha) , out of Malaysia...want to know where? Then go to the nearest bookshop and get this book...... hehehe.... ha Sis Norza, ini mama tolong promosi lagi ni...nanti next book leh dapat diskaun aaa....hehehe...gurau je!

Oh oh....this is what you get when mama is in the mood to write....actually I have more to blabber, but I guess, enough torture for today. Hahaha....Let's just go straight to the recipe to share. The simplest recipe actually... psssttt....mama is running out of recipes as I haven't been doing any experiments for quite a long time...so even the simplest recipe will be counted as one entry at the moment ok....hahaha.... I came across this recipe from Sabrina's Fotopages. Thanks Sab for sharing your mom's tips on how to get a really nice fried tapioca....by the way, why is the long silence? Been busy huh? Anyway, you take care ya.......

Thank you so much to Stitch Stash Store for the present in the guessing game entry. This lovely gift arrived at my mailbox yesterday afternoon....

Since today is Mother's Day, so I think for the recipe to share today, it'll be something from my darling mom. I will paste this Vadai recipe that I've made for my brother when he came over to collect the cakes for Alya's birthday. My brother just love this Dhall Vadai, but I prefer the Ulundhu Vadai, the softer one.

VADAI
Source : My Darling Mom

Ingredients :

300 g dhall
1 onion ~ diced
1 fresh red chillie ~ diced
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 sprig of Curry leaves ~ finely sliced
salt to taste
oil for frying

Method :

1. Soak dhall for at least 4 hours but I soaked the dhall overnight.
2. Drain and blend three quarter (3/4) into a paste in an electric food processor. Leave the one-quarter (1/4) portion aside.
3. Combine the ground paste with the unground portion.
4. Add in onion, red chillie, fennel seeds, curry leaves and salt. Mix well.
5. Wet your hands and place a spoonful of mixture on the palm of your hand. Make into a round then flatten slightly.
6. Deep-fry in hot oil until crispy and golden.
7. Serve with fresh green chillie.
